Meet The Candidates
Who We Are

Ralph Kabakoff
Candidate

As a longtime Berks County resident with two children in the district, I am committed to strengthening our schools through open communication, smart problem-solving, and a focus on student well-being. With experience in the mental health field, I will work to create a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive. I believe in common-sense solutions, collaboration, and fiscal responsibility to keep our schools strong. I would be honored to earn your support.
Caryn Friedlander
Incumbent
Caryn is currently in her 10th year serving the community as a School Director. In that time she has held leadership roles as board Treasurer, Chair of their Human Resources committee and Negotiations committee, the board liaison to the Governor Mifflin Education Foundation, GM's representative to the Berks County Career and Technology Center, and the Chairperson of BCTC's Joint Operating Committee.
Both of her daughters are recent Governor Mifflin graduates. While they were in school, Caryn was active with the various Parent Teacher Organizations, Girl Scouts and other school related activities.
For more than 25 years, Caryn and her family have owned and operated Classic Harley-Davidson. Their commitment to the community is evident in safety programs, as well as supporting local veterans groups, and other charitable organizations.

Laurie Miller
Candidate
As a dedicated member of the Mifflin district community, Laurie brings a unique perspective shaped by her experiences as a parent and her naturally strategic, big-picture approach. Her commitment to fostering growth and innovation in our schools is unwavering, and she is ready to contribute creative solutions and a genuine dedication to the success of our students, teachers, and community.
Michele Hill Roby
Incumbent
I have been serving the Governor Mifflin School District in the position of a School Director since 2009. Additionally, I graduated from Governor Mifflin in 1992 and my father graduated from GM in 1964. My father taught and coached in the district for over 32 years. Both of my children attend GMSD schools and will both graduate from there as well. Serving the GMSD community in this capacity has been my life goal, as soon as I earned my Doctorate Degree, which I did in 2004. My roots for Governor Mifflin run deep and I am a champion to support the Governor Mifflin School District and community. I firmly believe in public school education as I am also a public school employee at another district, having worked as a school counselor for 23 years!
